What inspired you to start playing music?
I started playing the piano when I was 5 years old and my parents encouraged me to keep playing. It wasn’t until college that I realized I was very passionate about music. I think my parents’ persistence in music education planted a seed in me and it blossomed later on and inspired me to choose music as my career.
Who are some of your musical inspirations
When I was studying in Boston, I had the opportunity to listen to John O’Conor perform the Beethoven Pathetique Sonata. I had never heard anyone play that sonata so perfectly. I still remember the feeling of being in complete awe and it was truly an out-of-body experience. It’s this kind of performance that inspires me to stay so dedicated to music.
What was the injury that brought you to MTF and how did the injury affect your music?
I suffered from chronic tightness in my right hand and I lost mobility in my fingers. I was not able to perform pieces the way I was able to before.
What was your experience with receiving care through MTF and your recovery afterward?
Dr. Barron is one of the best orthopedic specialists I’ve seen. In addition to the expert advice, he also shows genuine care and interest in his patients. I am very grateful to have met him and I would highly recommend MTF to anyone who is searching for help.
What’s coming up for you?
I am focusing my effort on teaching piano nowadays and I have a studio in Cedar Park. My students have recently won some local and international piano competitions. The next project will be to prepare my students for next year’s piano festivals and competitions organized by the Austin District Music Teachers Association.
