Nick Garza is an Austin, Texas songwriter and 13th-generation Texan born in San Antonio. His gut-string guitar and rich baritone bring thoughtful songs—sometimes tender, sometimes funny—to life, drawing from country, Western, Tex-Mex, and classic American songcraft. Nick Garza’s Get Along is his musical project, and Saving Country Music has described Garza as “one of Austin’s premier Western artists,” with “intentional songwriting and a poetic disposition.” His latest EP, Silver To Hold, explores self-doubt, loss, and the enduring bonds that carry us forward.

What inspired you to start playing music?
My mom sings and plays guitar, my dad plays a little too, and my grandma was a great piano player. Music was always in the house and on the radio.
Who are some of your musical inspirations?
Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, The Texas Tornados, The Mills Brothers
What was the injury that brought you to MTF, and how did the injury affect your music?
I fractured my radius on my guitar-strumming arm.
What was your experience with receiving care through MTF and your recovery afterward?
It was incredible. A member of the MTF team reached out after seeing me in a cast on a social media post on a Thursday night. Friday, I spoke with Irene and sent my X-rays over for a second opinion. Saturday, Dr. Barron called me on the phone and explained why I should have surgery and how his approach wouldn’t leave metal in my arm permanently. On Monday, I had surgery.
What’s coming up for you?
I have a few shows coming up, including October 30 at O’Donnell’s in Lockhart. I’ll also be back in the studio in late October to record some new music that I hope to release next year.
Where can people find out more about you and your music?
