What inspired you to start playing music?
I started playing clarinet and singing in 4th Grade. When I got to middle school in 2012 I discovered Rock n Roll andJazz and I never looked back.
Who are some of your musical inspirations
I have always been inspired by musicians that made music their lifetime pursuit. I would see bass players like Ray Brown, Milt Hinton etc. in their 70’s and 80’s still playing with such joy. Even at a young age I thought to myself I want to pursue music because there is no end to the journey there is no absolute mastery. It was a lifetime pursuit.
What was the injury that brought you to MTF and how did the injury affect your music?
I developed a condition on my left hand (fretting hand) ring finger called “ trigger finger.” It is a condition where your finger locks in the closed position. It causes pain and sometimes gets locked to the point where you need to assist the opening of the finger with your other hand.
What was your experience with receiving care through MTF and your recovery afterward?
I wrote to the Foundation and spoke with someone within a few days. I was told that I was the perfect candidate to receive MTF assistance with treatment and she quickly expedited the appointment with Dr. Carrie Swigart at Yale New Haven Hospital who performed the operation to address my finger.
What’s coming up for you?
I will be playing shows in October with Teddy Thompson/Jenny Muldaur throughout the Northeast for the release of their new Country Duets Album.
